General Requirements


According to the Admission Rules for the English Pharmacy Division the following applicants may apply to the Medical University of Warsaw:


Applicants with High School Diploma other than IB/EB/EU/OECD/EFTA

Applicants with a high school diploma issued outside Poland are obliged to pass the entrance exam (in English). It consists of 100 MCQ questions in Biology on higher level (35 questions), Chemistry on higher level (35 questions) and Physics on standard level (30 questions).


Applicants with IB / EB / EU / OECD / EFTA matriculation certificates,

Candidates of foreign nationality who have obtained  the International Baccalaureate (IB) certificate or a matriculation certificate issued in the Member States of the European Union (EU), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) or the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) will be qualified on the basis of the converted results of polish matriculation exam with the following subjects (there are no extra tests required):

  • Biology - written exam (Higher Level),
  • Chemistry - written exam (Higher Level),
  • Physics - Standard Level or Mathematics Standard Level or Mathematics Higher Level.

Candidates of foreign nationality who have obtained the European Baccalaureate (EB) certificate will be qualified on the basis of the results of the matriculation examination of the above three subjects. Qualification points will be calculated based on the sum of results of these exams, according to the formula:

Sum of results * 10/3

The Polish matriculation examination

Candidates who have obtained at least the minimum qualification points for admission to the Polish Pharmacy program in accordance with the principles described in Annex 6, may apply for admission to English Pharmacy Division. These candidates will be qualified on the basis of the total number of qualification points and the application for admission to study in English on an additional fee basis (applies to those who are qualified for full-time studies in Polish) or full payment (applies to those who are qualified for part-time studies in Polish).
The deadline for the application for admission to English Pharmacy Division is according to Schedule.
Important: this is not applicable to foreigners enrolled to study in Polish at WUM by the Ministry of Health.

Language requirements

English is the language of instruction at the English Division of Medical University of Warsaw, therefore you must be proficient in speaking, listening, reading and writing English. International students who are not native English speakers should provide the results of one of the below certificates:

  • IELTS exam passed with no less than 6,0 points,
  • TOEFL exam passed with no less than 90 points,
  • CEFR exam on B2 level,
  • TOEIC exam passed with no less than 700 points.

Visa requirements

Nationals of European Economic Area countries or from Monaco or Switzerland may move freely. They may travel to Poland on the strength of a national passport or identity card. All other nationalities should apply for a student visa (type D) with the Polish embassy or consulate in their current country of residence before leaving for Poland, if they want to stay in Poland for longer than 3 months. Exceptions to this rule may be possible if you hold a passport or a residence permit for a Schengen country. If this is the case, please contact the embassy or consulate for more information.
